Simple Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe (Serves 4)

Ingredients:

400g (14 oz) spaghetti
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 medium carrots, finely diced
3 celery sticks, finely diced
500g (1 lb) ground beef
1 can (400g) chopped tomatoes
1 450g jar of Dolmio Bolognese Original Pasta Sauce (or similar)
Salt and pepper to taste
Grated Cheddar or Parmesan cheese, for serving
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Method:

  1. Prepare the Bolognese Sauce:

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 15 minutes or until softened.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
Stir in the Pasta Sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add the chopped tomatoes. Stir well.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  1. Cook the Spaghetti:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions (ususally for around 15 minutes). Drain and set aside.

  1. Combine and Serve:

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce until well coated.
Serve in bowls, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
